2025 Mid Valley Association of REALTORS® Community Scholarship

The Mid Valley Association of REALTORS® (MVAR) Community Scholarship supports graduating high school seniors in Marion, Polk, and Linn counties who are pursuing higher education. This scholarship is awarded to students dedicated to making a meaningful impact—especially in areas related to affordable housing, homelessness, and supporting disadvantaged children and families.

We seek applicants who are actively engaged in community service, volunteer work with housing and social service organizations, and initiatives that create lasting change. Recipients will be selected based on their dedication to service, relevant experience, and future goals that contribute to community development and well-being.

Scholarship Criteria

Eligibility:

  • Must be a graduating senior from Marion, Polk, or Linn counties.
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Must be attending a college, university, or trade school in Fall 2025.

Additional Requirements:

  • Application Questions: Applicants must answer three questions related to:
    • Commitment to Community
    • Experience in Service
    • Future Goals
  • Personal Statement Video (minimum 2 minutes) detailing:
    • Volunteer and community experiences
    • How this scholarship will support your education and service goals
    • Ideas for enhancing community pride and livability
  • Letters of Recommendation: 1–2 letters from individuals who can speak to your character, community involvement, and commitment to helping others.

Scholarship Details

  • Amount: Up to $1,000 per recipient
  • Usage: Funds may be used for tuition, books, and educational expenses only

Timeline

  • Application Deadline: April 30, 2025
  • Notification of Recipients: No later than June 15, 2025
  • Award Ceremony: Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the MVAR General Membership Meeting

Scholarship Criteria

Provide examples that demonstrate your commitment to improving your community, specifically in areas related to affordable housing, homelessness, or support for disadvantaged children and families.

Describe any volunteer or work experiences with organizations focused on housing, social services, or community development. Preference will be given to applicants with relevant experience.
