General Membership Meeting: Business Climate and Homebuilding Update

November's General Membership Meeting featuring two timely briefings on the forces shaping our regional economy and housing market. 

First, Tom Hoffertt, CEO/President of the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce, will share an up-to-the-minute outlook on the state of the business environment in the Salem area—covering hiring trends, small-business sentiment, major projects, and what to watch heading into 2026. 

Then, Ian Levin, MVAR Member and Chapter President of CCIM, will provide insights on commercial real estate development trends—land-use, financing, investment, and how CCIM sees opportunities and challenges in our area. And sharing their partnership with MVAR membership going into the 2025- 26 FY.  

Then, Mike Erdmann, CEO of Oregon Home Builders Association of Marion & Polk Counties, will take a deeper dive into the current landscape of homebuilding—permitting, supply chain and labor constraints, cost drivers, and near-term delivery expectations, plus what it all means for inventory and affordability.
